World Physical Therapy Day falls on 8th September every year, and is an opportunity for physical therapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial role their profession plays in making and keeping people well, mobile and independent.  The day was established in 1996 by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy.  This year, and in future years, WCPT will be supporting member organisations in their efforts for the day, with a toolkit of materials.  Read press release

The theme for World Physical Therapy Day is Movement for Health.  We suggest you take up this theme, since it conveys a core idea of what physical therapists do, while leaving scope for you to incorporate your own ideas and concerns in your activities.  The documents available for download here all include a Movement for Health logo, specially designed for World Physical Therapy Day activities.

The materials we provide to you will develop over the coming years, but this year, we are focussing on the ways that physical therapists can counter some of the diseases of civilisation, such as obesity.  If you do not wish to focus on these areas, that is fine.
